A nonstop genocidal war waged against the Oromo people for more than a century

By M. Seenaa | May 31, 2013

Though the systems and types seamed changed, a genocidal war waged on Oromo by the governments of the Habesha intensified continuously without any disrupt for more than a century. It is obvious that Oromo never surrendered at will to the governments of Habesha’s except came under their suppression over taken by their amassed sophisticated weapons received from the Europeans.

The people of Oromo never enjoyed any economic, social and political stability since the time of conquest. An ethnic cleansing, history never forgets, was launched against the Oromo nation by the Habesha people. Starting from Menlik’s gun men (Nafxanyaa) to TPLF’s soldiers, so many remorseless cruelties were happened to the Oromo people.Abyssinians acting as agent colonialists for the capitalist states manipulated and exploited the free states of the Oromo, Ogaden, Afar, Gambela, Beneshangul and the Southern nations since the 19thC. Conquered, annexed and subjugated by Menlik the independent territories of these nations put in to a basket of imperialism since 1876 named as Ethiopia, a pseudonym country created by the myth of 3000 years history. The people before annexed to Abyssiniansim were living independently differed culturally, linguistically, racially and historically, from the conquering Abyssinians. The Abyssinian rulers trying to justify their conquest of these nations, have written many myths, telling that the annexation of adjacent territories of the south was not a colonial under taking, but only a ‘feudal expansion’ as Abyssinia lived together for 3000 years. The myth is, when the Abyssinia of the north is traced back to Arabia migrated to north east Africa during the first millennium B.C. and the south annexed nations were in Africa. The rulers of Abyssinia justify their conquest as to reinstitute the Abyssinia of old frontiers or the unification of the scattered Ethiopia which has never lived together as they falsely claim it, wrote Makura Bulcha on his book; Flight and Integration.

Reserving for history to judge, what had happened long time ago, let us try to see recent trajectory of events under the TOLF regime:

1. The ongoing eastern Wollaga zone genocide since 2008

It was May 17, 2008 that more than 400 Oromos were attacked in their villages and massacred by Gumuz gun men trained and provided weapons by the TPLF government. Gun men equipped from AK 47 to latest machinery guns took on expedition in eastern Wollaga Zone, in different parts of provinces specifically in Sassiga, attacking villages to kill at spot who ever came their way. Firing bullets mercilessly from their machine guns on defenseless Oromos, these people organized by TPLF, killed more than 400 people since May 17. Of the casualties suffered, children and women are the most affected.

Besides the 400 deaths many were severely injured and more than 12,000 were displaced, retreating in mass to Nekemte town.

Resources difficult to put in to numbers, is either destroyed or looted. None out of the deceased received a formal burial as a human being. Shot by bullets, their head was chopped and their body was scavenged on by wild animals.

When all this act of atrocity is happening OPDO, claiming leadership to Oromia and EPRDF, calling itself leader of the federal government they asserted Ethiopians are ruled by, never uttered a single word to curb the unfortunate disaster. The reason was simply because the murders and murderers are sponsored by these tyrants, so called governments.

Ethiopian constitution, written on paper, doesn’t allow civilians to possess weapons, but the Gumuz people equipped to their nose with machinery guns only found and controlled by the government, to kill the Oromo people.

Unfortunately it was not the killings, injuries, lootings, or displacements that most surprises, but the mass arrests the TPLF made against the Oromo people alleging they are guilt of instigating the war. This kind of inhuman malicious damage against the Oromo is still going on disruptively.

The same genocidal war against the Oromo was waged in years 2010, 2011 and 2012 continuously. The provocation of war is also continuing unstoppable.

2. The Somali gun men attack in southern Oromia region, in Moyale town

TPLF, continuing its war against the Oromo people, launched an offensive attack by equipping Somali militia men in southern Oromia region of Borana zone, in Moyale town.

Including police officers from the incompetent Oromia government, OPDO, more than 50 people were brutally murdered.

Hundreds were injured and thousands were displaced crossing to northern Kenya in mass exodus abandoning their villages.

As usual the TPLF regime uttered no word when mass killings, displacements and plunders were unveiled. As a known ‘business’ people in mass, including the local police forces, blamed siding with the people, were locked in detention.

TPLF cadres, trained in instigating wars between nations and ethnicities, triggered sporadic conflicts among the Garba, Gari, Ajuran and Borana people causing sundry causalities to human lives and properties.

3. A strife in Eastern Oromia between TPLF sponsored Somali militia men and Oromo people that has claimed the lives of 37 Oromos

The TPLF regime, in its aggression policy towards the Oromo people, repeatedly sponsored the Somali people who always hallucinate to annex the land of Eastern Oromia to their region, to fight the Oromo people. In this war of weakening the Oromo nation, many lives were lost, thousands displaced and properties were damaged and looted.

Simultaneous wars are launched by the Somali militias in provinces of Mi’eso, Jarso and Aniya. By this coordinated and organized attacks, 37 Oromos were assassinated since 2013. While hundreds injured, some estimated to 20,000 people were forced to leave their villages internally displaced on their own father land. More than 700 heads of cattle were plundered.

The war instigated by TPLF cadres and fought by TPLF soldiers from the rare was faulted on border disputes by the TPLF.

TPLF’s fascism offense against the Oromo people will never be seen differently from genocidal war.

4. War against Karayu Oromo by ‘Amara special police’ (Liyu Police)

The coordinated hostilities against the Karayu Oromo in eastern Showa zone of Oromia is also one of the many combined genocidal war waged on Oromo people. Between the Oromo and Amara vicinity, TPLF settled only Amara born special police forces.

The discord that happened since Menlik’s conquest is still going on in this area between the Oromo and the Amara people.

The special police forces under the guise of Minjar youth league are trained, equipped and are engaging the Amara youths against defenseless Oromo pastoralists. There is a wider military training camp opened in the area to accomplish this conspiracy.

The settlers are also pushing the Oromo people around them more than 20kms monthly, from their lands.

The TPLF handmade Oromo government, OPDO, tried to derive away the settlers to their home land only to be combated and beaten bitterly losing its two police forces giving up the fight incompetently.

The Amara soldiers of the special police forces viciously killed more than 76 Oromo people in just one year, of which 3 are children and 6 are women.

Many victims were assassinated while grazing their cattle and their bodies were thrown in bushes for wild lives dinner. The fate 10 people are yet unknown for their where about is not known up to today.

The nafxanyaa, after finishing their military training will be sent on looting adventures. In this way hundreds of thousands of goats, cattle and donkeys were stolen from villages of Dhibti, Qarari, Qarsa and others, by the special police forces.

A genocidal war waged on the people of Oromo needs an urgent solution. Therefore, the people of Oromo from every walk of life and every corner in the world must unite in oneness to stand against the atrocities inflicted on the Oromo nation.

We also take an opportunity to call up on human rights organizations and world governments to speak against the ethnic cleansing act of the TPLF piranha regime.

We also want to untiringly tell any organizations or governments of the world, aiding such a rotten regime in any way is a sin and abuse of the oppressed nation’s rights.

Oromia shall be free!!

God bless Oromia!!
